Carriacou Emergency Operations Center and Warehouse

Design & Build

Project Description

PED CONCEPTS was contracted to provide turn-key services to execute a Design Build Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Warehouse on the remote island of Carriacou for NAVFAC SE to be utilized by Host Nation NADMA. The building is approximately 4,500 sq. ft. for housing of operational and administrative functions of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and SOUTHCOM. Carriacou has no utility services on the island so we designed and implemented a potable water system from the rain-water collection which has since been utilized as a template for their Hospital locally. The building was designed and built to withstand extreme storm wind loads and seismic conditions to suit. Work included but was not limited to site preparations and stabilization, self-sustaining systems, the site layout of the building and the proposed vehicular parking spots design, ground conditions, fittings, fixtures and finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing and HVAC design and installation. PED and the team worked closely with the local Embassy and Subcontractor to execute the VAT and permit for the local requirements on-site.  This project was performed during the global pandemic shutdown with no delay or cost impact requested.
